I work with people who are committed to their own development and growth, and people who work with others, as well as people with current problems and need for support. I work with a special process called Focusing, which taps into what has never been consciously thought or spoken before. The Focusing process adds a significant new dimension to your counselling session. After talking about your problem and expressing your feelings, you may feel that nothing has changed much. You already know all about what you have said, and yet there is more. You can feel it right there, in your body. Itmay be vague or subtle at first, and you may not have words to express it. Yet if you attend to this directly felt, sense of something in your body, with openness and curiosity, you find surprising new steps come, unbidden and not forced.
These steps, not of your own making, are always in the direction of healing and integration. They lead to more ease and flow in your life, and a greater resilience and capacity for living. You feel better after a session, even though you have been sitting with difficult problems. You have a clearer sense of your way forwards. Often there is a sense of gratitude for what came during the session.
Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential space. Focusing taps into what has never been consciously thought or spoken. The Focusing process makes what is vague more tangible and easier to work with, bringing new insights and a sense of movement forwards and actionable steps.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I subscribe to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am guided by their code of ethics, as well as the BFTA code of ethics. Confidentiality is a key consideration and you can be assured of complete safety in the confidential space.
